CCTV
For her 2011 solo exhibition at White Columns, Cynthia Daignault created the painting, CCTV Monitor. Conceived as an editioned painting, Daignault based the thirty paintings in the edition off the original AP. Each painting is a collaboration between owner and artist, as the owner was given complete say over the location depicted on the monitor, though neither artist nor owner had full control as many elements were left to chance conditions present during the thirty site visits. Each painting stands as a portrait of its individual owner (depicting homes, work, families, and ideas), while the entire group aggregates to a community of individuals across the broad landscape of contemporary urban life.
